Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of many borders.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel building that highlights a number of amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
