Cambodia Casinos

[ English ]

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gambling is banned. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel complex that features numerous luxuries in addition to the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
