Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are apparently needed to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling hall, features 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel building that contains numerous comforts in addition to the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 tables.
